The Academic Calendar 2019-20 for Dubai Private Schools Starting in September

Start of academic year September 1, 2019
Winter break begins December 15, 2019
Four weeks for MoE curriculum schools
Three weeks for other private schools
Return from winter break January 12, 2020 for MoE curriculum private schools

January 5, 2020 for other private schools

Other private schools (non-MoE) may chose the below based on KHDA approval:
-Reduce the winter break to two weeks with classes resuming on December 29, 2019 
-OR, extend the winter break to four weeks with classes resuming on January 12, 2020
Spring break begins March 29, 2020 (Two weeks)
Return from spring break April 12, 2020
End of academic year July 2, 2020

 

Dubai Private Schools Starting in April – Academic year 2019/2020

Start of academic year April 1, 2019
Summer break begins June 30, 2019
Return from summer break September 1, 2019
Winter break begins December 15, 2019
Return from winter break Option 1: Return on Sunday Dec 29, 2019 (two weeks)

Option 2: Return on Sunday Jan 5, 2020 (three weeks)

Option 3: Return on Sunday Jan 12, 2020 (four weeks)

End of academic year Between March 15-19, 2020 Subject to the school fulfilling the stipulated number of instructional and academic days.
New academic year begins 2020/2021 April 1, 2020


All private schools must tentatively communicate Public holidays (like Eid, National day and other similar holidays) to the parents and confirm these holidays to the parent once declared by the UAE government authority.

 


However, based on KHDA approvals, schools may extend or reduce winter break (four weeks or two weeks).

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai said that students in the emirate will also start the academic year on September 2.
