For three families, the recent graduation ceremony of SUC is a special day. Three pairs of siblings marched together as graduates this year — Palestinians Nada and Eman Alaa Ahmed Albaghdadi, Pakistanis Sofia and Muneeb Tariq, and UAE-Nationals Ahmed and Mohammed Abdelkarim Mohamed Akbar. The siblings were part of the 283 students representing 21 different nationalities who successfully received their BBA and MBA degrees at the University City Hall, University City of Sharjah, UAE.

Nada graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Major in Public Administration, while her sister Eman completed a degree in Business Administration Major in Finance. According to Nada, what attracted them to enroll in SUC is the schedule that accommodates students who do part-time work like them. It was not easy to finish one’s studies with a daytime work, but SUC’s timing enabled them to finish their degree. Studying at Skyline allowed them to have more time together. For Nada and Eman, one of the things they will remember about their college days is the fact that the teachers were very helpful and had taught them well. For the two sisters, their next aim is “to work on ourselves and leave a mark in whatever industry we are in or in whatever we do.”

For Sofia and her brother Muneeb, studying in the same university had many benefits as she got to bond with her brother over car rides to and from the university, and discussed projects and lessons together. Both Sofia and Muneeb graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Major in Finance.

“It’s been amazing, I found amazing friends and have made some unforgettable memories and learned a lot,” said Sofia when asked about her days as a student at Skyline. According to her, the environment at Skyline is friendly and homely, with students having the chance to do extracurricular activities and join clubs such as photography and Toastmasters clubs. This environment makes the university conducive for learning.

For Sofia, SUC did not only impart knowledge and skills that prepared her for the professional world, it also developed her non-academic skills as she grew from a shy girl into an outspoken woman during her time at SUC.

Another pair of siblings, Ahmed Mohammed Abdelkarim Mohamed Akbar and Mohammed Abdelkarim Mohamed Akbar, graduated with a master’s degree in Business Administration with Emphasis on Strategic Management and Leadership. According to Ahmed, they decided to join MBA classes to earn a higher academic degree, excel in their jobs, and gain more knowledge and self-confidence. “We decided to join the same university so that we can help, share and learn together, and we chose Skyline because of friends’ recommendations,” Ahmed said.

These siblings, like all their fellow graduates, faced hardships during their educational journey. After all, the path to knowledge is not an easy one and it takes determination, perseverance, resiliency, and passion to succeed in one’s academic journey. Another inspiring story proving that difficulties can be overcome by one’s strong determination and yearning to learn is that of Sarah Mousa. Sarah uses a wheelchair as mobility aid, but this didn’t stop her from obtaining a master’s degree in Business Administration with Emphasis on E-Governance from SUC.

According to Sarah, it was not very easy to commute to and from the university, but she’s determined to obtain her degree and everything was made easier by the SUC faculty members and staff who were very supportive.

During the 28th graduation ceremony, Mr. Kamal Puri, Founder President of Skyline University College, highlighted how SUC engages in its CRS initiatives and emphasized that the graduates have the capability of making a difference to society by fulfilling their own social responsibilities.

“Whenever you take any decision professionally and personally, keep in mind your contribution to society. Skyline contributes enormously and signed an MoU with Sharjah prison in view of prisoners’ training as well as granting scholarship funds, which have been my dream for many years. Each one of us can make a difference by what we do. I am sure that every graduate of skyline University College will make his or her parents and our institution proud.”

SUC, with its mission to impart knowledge, develop professional skills and inculcate the spirit of innovation and creativity in students of diverse background, has produced more than 8000 graduates in the course of 28 years.
