ASPAM Indian International School celebrated the International Family Day on the 15th of May, 2017. While it hosts numerous events for parents and children alike, this event was the first of its kind – focusing on familial bonding with two fun competitions – Best of Waste and Best of Taste.  What differentiates this event from others is the importance of the day itself. While Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Children’s Day are a prominent part of the school calendar, there are not very many that celebrate the togetherness of all three – that celebrate the title of “family” rather than the various relationships that come with it.

The history of the occasion can be narrowed down to the General Assembly of the United Nations, and their encouragement of a day that “focuses on the role of families and family-oriented policies in promoting education and overall well-being of their members. In particular, the Day is to raise awareness of the role of families in promoting early childhood education and lifelong learning opportunities for children and youth”.
