The British International School Abu Dhabi is pleased to announce the introduction of the Senior School Academic Scholarship Programme for 2017-18. The purpose of this is to recognise and offer further support of the academic excellence offered here at BIS Abu Dhabi.
Senior School (Year 12) Academic Scholarships may be awarded to students applying for entry to the School from other schools but are also open to students currently enrolled.
The Scholarship examination will be held on Sunday 28th May 2017 so as not to disadvantage any Year 11 students who are sitting either IGCSE or GCSE examinations. There are a number of Scholarship Awards available each with a reduction of academic fees, between 10% and 25% attached to them to enable a wide range of students to receive the support offered by the Scholarships. All of the International Baccalaureate examination fees are included in our current fee structure and would remain included as part of the Scholarship Programme. The number and level of Awards given will be determined by the Scholarship Committee.
These awards are made available to support families where school fees are paid directly by parents. The awards would not be available to students whose fees are paid by a third party company, however the title of ‘Academic Scholar’ may be awarded.
Applicants will be required to submit an application form and their most recent school report. Additional references may be required from their current school.
In Round 1, candidates will be required to sit the Scholarship examination and take a GL CAT4 assessment. Successful candidates will then proceed to Round 2 which will comprise of one or more interviews with senior members of staff.
The offer of a Scholarship place may also be dependent on IGCSE examination results (if appropriate).
The tenure of the Scholarship will be reviewed at the end of Year 12 and will be based on, not exclusively but including, maintaining a pre-determined IBDP points target, having an attendance of at least 95% and taking a full and active part in Senior School life.
