Resumption of In-Person Learning for Public and Private Higher Education Institutions Effective 20 April 2026

United Arab Emirates, 15 April 2026: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announces the resumption of in-person learning for all students, academic staff, and administrative staff in public and private higher education institutions, effective Monday, 20 April 2026, following the completion of the necessary readiness and preparation plans, including preparedness of buildings and facilities, updating safety and security procedures, and strengthening the readiness of academic and administrative staff, thereby ensuring a safe and stable learning environment for students.

Certain private higher education institutions will have the flexibility to implement hybrid and remote learning models when needed, in accordance with approved regulations, taking into account each institution’s readiness and the requirements of orderly academic implementation.

Higher education institutions will continue, in coordination with the Ministry and relevant authorities, to monitor the implementation of readiness and operational plans to ensure a smooth return to in-person learning in accordance with the highest standards of safety and quality.

Higher education institutions will remain prepared to transition to alternative learning modes when needed, ensuring continuity of education with flexibility and smooth implementation.
