Moral education subject introduced in schools upon directives of Mohamed bin Zayed
The pilot phase of moral education curriculum has been introduced in 19 public and private schools nationwide with the beginning of the second semester of the current academic year.
The move follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to include the moral education subject into the curricula.
The moral education committee, which includes representatives from the office of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; the Ministry of Education; Abu Dhabi Education Council and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority; the Knowledge and Human Development Authority Dubai, and elite of school directors and educational leaders, held a meeting to discuss the implementation of the pilot programme of moral education and include it in the curricula and courses at schools nationwide.
The meeting also dealt with many other relevant curriculum aspects, including basic pillars of moral education curriculum and teacher’s guide as well as the criteria for selection of qualified teaching staff to teach this subject.
The participants stressed the need to integrate the efforts undertaken by educational institutions in the state with the role of the family as the main core to instill the basics of moral education in the hearts of children.
Jameela bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education stressed during the session, which was held at the training centre of the Ministry of Education, the importance of involvement of teachers from various schools in implementing the curriculum of moral education given their effective role in instilling the values of loyalty in children.
