KHDA chairman visits Sunmarke School on International Happiness Day
Students introduce Dr Abdulla to the Happiness Hub and ‘Life is beautiful’ wall artwork, along with other initiatives.
Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, chairman of the board of directors and director general of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) visited Sunmarke on the occasion of International Happiness Day.
He met students who told him about the school, showed him the Happiness Hub and the “Life is beautiful” wall artwork. Positivity Patrol students told Dr Abdulla about the initiatives they introduced to school, such as the “Worry box” where students in each class can put their worries of the day, so that they are addressed by the end of the day. “Gratitude Cards” are also given by students to each other as well as many more initiatives.
Dr. Abdulla then met with some of the art students who showcased the magnificent calligraphy artwork on the school wall that they created in collaboration with the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum. The artwork highlights the integral parts of a happy and flourishing life such as Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Accomplishment and Purpose and therefore called “Life is Beautiful”.
Dr. Abdulla then met with Arushi, who introduced her Hope Project. Arushi has set a goal to crochet 100 caps for children who suffer from cancer. She is planning to send a 100 caps to Crochet for Cancer organisation http://www.crochetforcancer.org/.
We at Sunmarke were honoured to share the International Happiness Day with Dr. Abdulla and KHDA team.
