British curriculum launches new outdoor sports facility.
Apollo Peralini, head of UAE rugby officially opened a brand new outdoor sports facility at Dubai Investment Park’s first, and only, British curriculum school – Dovecote Green Primary School. The launch look place at the annual sports day, held at the school on Wednesday morning.
Apollo Peralini said “As a rugby coach we need facilities and to see these facilities be provided to a school, that is growing and developing, as Dovecote excites me as much as it excites you.”
The event was also attended by members of the wider school community in DIP, teachers, parents and school students.
After inaugurating the facility, the dignitaries stayed and watched the sportday events. They were very impressed by the sporting behaviour and efforts of the children.
At the event, Mr. Patrick Affley, the headmaster of the school said “The new sports facility is an outward sign of the school’s commitment to developing sport in the school and the local community of DIP. It is also a part of our next step to grow the school to cater for senior school students.”
Located in the Green community in DIP, Dovecote is the only school in the zone following the National curriculum for England. The school currently offers classes from FS1 to Year 6. Built in 2015 with a total investment of about AED 100 million, the school comprises 30 purpose built, bright and stimulating classrooms, shaded outside access, a large multipurpose gymnasium, two swimming pools, library, and music room.
With fully qualified and experienced UK trained staff, the school focuses on a holistic education in a nurturing environment and currently has over 300 students enrolled.
The headmaster Patrick Affley also said… “There are exciting times ahead for Dovecote School. The school serves the local and wider communities in Dubai and is growing steadily. The focus for our school is teaching the children to become resilient, adaptable thinkers in an environment that stimulates learning. The quality of education, excellent sports facilities and the ‘community feel’ of the school are three important elements to ensure we provide the best education for the children in our care.”
After the official opening of the school the whole school community enthusiastically sang the UAE National Athem and then took part in a variety of different sporting activities. The headmaster gave a tour of the school to the guests and highlighted that a new senior school phase will be launched in the near future (pending KHDA approval).
