MoHESR withdraws recognition from Midocean University in Fujairah

United Arab Emirates – December 08, 2025: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has announced the withdrawal of recognition for all qualifications issued by Midocean University, which operates an executive office in the emirate of Fujairah. This decision follows a joint compliance inspection, conducted in collaboration with Fujairah Free Zone Authority (FFZA), which uncovered fundamental violations concerning operational mechanisms, controls for delivering academic programmes, and the institution’s adherence to approved national standards and criteria.

The inspection revealed that the university’s executive office in Fujairah has been offering registration services and conducting educational programmes without obtaining the necessary accreditation from the Ministry. Furthermore, the institution has been engaging in educational activities that do not align with the legislation governing higher education institutions. This includes offering online academic programmes without a clear quality assurance mechanism as well as significant discrepancies in student and programme data compared to what was observed onsite.

Based on these findings, MoHESR conducted a comprehensive verification and technical assessment to determine the institution’s compliance with the approved national standards. Following the evaluation results, the decision was made to withdraw recognition for all qualifications issued by the university. As a result, the institution’s status in the Ministry’s official recognition lists has been changed to “not accredited” in accordance with established regulatory procedures.

This measure reflects MoHESR’s dedication to protecting the interests of students and the academic community, safeguarding the credibility of academic qualifications, and raising the quality of higher education across the UAE. The Ministry aims to ensure that all educational institutions adhere to the regulatory standards that maintain a trustworthy learning environment while preventing unlicensed or misleading educational activities.
